Thank you for considering me as your therapist!

Background and Specializations

I grew up in the Middle East and cultural humility is central to my practice. I love working with other Third Culture Kids and processing how cross cultural identities impact how we see or don’t see ourselves in our communities.

As an attachment focused therapist I am trained to help parents improve attachment and relationship with children, as well as helping children and adults heal attachment and relational trauma from their past. I especially love holding space for healing of family of origin trauma. I also enjoy working with parents and individuals whose lives have been impacted by adoption and foster care.

Fifteen years of experience as an educator in the public school system gives me insight into how school based traumas can impact us in adulthood in both our relationships and our current work environment. I am also passionate about helping my clients who are currently in school and their parents understand how to best collaborate with the system to impact positive change. If you are looking for support for school based issues, DMDD, or neurodivergence, especially ADHD, then I may be a right fit therapist for you.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a specific modality of therapy that includes building internal resources to better help improve emotional regulation. As an EMDR Certified Therapist, I have advanced training using this modality, and I primarily use Attachment Focused EMDR (AF-EMDR). My EMDR clients report more ease regulating emotions and less intrusive anxiety.

While these are my areas of expertise, if you feel like there are other things about me that make me a fit for you, I encourage you to schedule a phone consultation so we can connect and find out.

Therapy Practice

The work of healing is important, profound, and brave. I consider it an honor to hold sacred space and witness my clients move through their healing process. Our minds and bodies can move us toward healing by their very design. Often our relationship, environments, and histories have sent our minds and bodies messages that interfere with this process. Therapy is the act of creating a safe and sacred space to examine the messages that drive us and unlearn patterns of behavior that interfere with our natural process. This can be done using a variety of different modalities.

Therapy modality is the medium for the healing work. I do use the medium of talk therapy, and I enjoy incorporating more creative modalities when my clients are comfortable. The creative mind has incredible healing power since it is the same area of the brain where traumatic material is stored. Art, writing, movement, sandtray, play, and music can offer us more information and healing power than words and thoughts alone. I encourage my clients to build mindful awareness and check in with the information their thoughts, imaginations, emotions, and physical bodies are sending them. The practice of holding dual attention for what happens within us in the present moment while recalling distressing events is a powerful way to reconnect to the inner wisdom of our nervous system and understand our own needs and desires better. The better we understand our needs and desires, the better we become at meeting them, and the more balanced and free we feel as we engage with the world around us.
